About Baht Babies...
Baht Babies was founded in September 2017 by Hannah, a passionate teacher from Louisville, Kentucky who lived in this region for 5 years and understands the importance of these children to the future of Karen State. ‘Baht’ is the currency used in Thailand and in the border regions of Burma. Investment in these children is essential for the survival of the Karen people who are in danger of ethnic cleansing from the Burmese government.
Accomplishments...Baht Babies has supported children and mothers in IDP (Internally Displaced Persons) Camps, held clean water workshops, and supplied water filters to mothers and students in need. We have taken in supplies, clothes, food and medicine to support families in the refugee and IDP camps along the Thai/Burmese border.
|
Current Projects...Current projects include building and contracting a new school building in the IDP camp for grades 1-10, fundraising for 78 new Sawyer water filters, rice, collecting donations for new school supplies, sports equipment and clothes for the children on the border. We are also in the beginning stages of a new project that will help sustain the Karen people on the border long-term by growing crops to sell on the global market.

How to help...If you are not in a financial position to donate funds or supplies, please know there is still plenty you can do! Spreading awareness to those who don't know about the situation here is critical. If you have questions or concerns about anything happening on the border please feel free to contact us. Although we do not claim to be experts on the political situation, we try our best to stay on top of current events and keeping our children safe.
